What The Weblogs Say

The music for the show sounds great. There are some very catchy tunes, can't wait to see the show.

I thought Curses was great. Really good fun. It was only a preview but we laughed loads, and the music was great.

“An excellent production.  Superb family night out.   A great combination musical, horror and comedy.  Music was very catchy which had me singing along.  The whole cast worked very hard to make this an enjoyable night.  The characters were all extraordinary which made it work very well, whatever bizarre event may happen next.

The plot was easy to follow and made everyone giggle.  Especially enjoyed Umney's solo – you will too!”

"Curses is great!  Great show, witty, fresh, great cast, original and an all round good laugh!"

"This show is just what people need right now - we live in a climate of fear and worry, and evenings like this just take you away from all of that.  It's pure entertainment!  Great fun, and at times utterly joyful"

Didn't quite know what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the whole show.  Great, catchy music with high energy performances by all of the cast. Extremely well written with numerous jokes with really made you laugh, sometimes until you cried.. Thoroughly recommended.

WEEKLY WINNER. A BOTTLE OF BUBBLY IS ON IT'S WAY TO YOU. WELL DONE!!!

This is a night out to remember. You wonder how "The Canterville Ghost" could be adapted for the stage but director Matt Devitt has done a wonderful job with some interesting special effects. The cast obviously enjoyed it as much as the audience. They are a very talented company. Whenever they are not on stage they rush upstairs to the minstrels' gallery to take up their instruments. Paul Miller's script is hilarious, appealing to young and old (there is nothing you could not take either your grandmother or grandchildren to) and the music by Julian Ronnie included at least one lovely ballad as well as some very funny comic songs. It's unfair to single out any member of the cast but Stuart Organ's entirely unexpected Elvis number brought the house down and Alison Harding's "Middle Age Spread" was another high spot. The show is on for another two weeks and we certainly intend to see it again.

Fresh script, spot-on music and Stuart 'Grange Hill' Organ - just three of the many factors which have made Curses into a laugh riot. My gran's still chuckling over some of the double-entendres and my son is crunching around in a kitchen foil suit of armour! It really is laugh-a-minute fun for all!

  Phil Reed November 21, 2005
I saw the second preview of Curses! and thought that Phil was excellent as Julian, He is extremly funny and Julian could be described as being a very nervous person and he suffers with a stutter. As I've only seen the show once it is very hard to say favourite parts but bits that have stayed in my brain are the very slushy love song, If She Could Hear My Voice which Phil sings on his own and Crazy For, Mad About You which Phil and Catherine Hamilton sing and it does start off slushy but it soon turns very funny and proves how perfect Julian and Virginia are together. Whilst Phil does sing loads during the show you don't see him play during it even though he is listed as playing acoustic guitar and flute and this is very disappointing. That said he does play a Tenor Sax on stage during the final song Enough is Enough but that is only for the matter of seconds. In all it is a very good show and one that I did thoroughly enjoy and I look forward to seeing it again soon.

I saw Curses! for the first time on Saturday and thought that the show was fantastic and just so funny. A great script, great songs and a fantastic cast make this a musical worth seeing. If She Could Hear My Voice is such a beautiful song as is I Never Said I Love You and the latter bought tears to my eyes. For comedy effect and overall staging, Crazy For, Mad About You was a winner, I have never laughed so much during a song and it was performed so brilliantly by Philip Reed as Julian and Catherine Hamilton as Virginia. It is unfair to single people out as it is very much an ensemble piece and one that wouldn't work if one of the links was missing.

Setting off from the Midlands at 2:00pm with plans for family re-union in the 'smoke' pre show meal, drinks etc. The M25 and A12 conspired to let us arrive at 7:50pm stressed and hungry, what a tonic Curses turned out to be. Within minutes I was laughing at one point nearly loosing control of my bladder. Excellent show, good songs and so funny. Home in 2 and a half hours. I would do it again, hows that for a recommendation.
